End of the Fest

Sadly the Edinburgh Festivals are coming to an end. The Fringe festival ended on Monday August 27. You wouldn't believe how quickly the city workers took down play bills, placards, and banners from public places. It's a little depressing it was so exciting. Phil and I did manage to squeeze in a few more shows before the end of the Fringe. With the whole family we saw a play called Hansel and Gretel a Fractured Fairytale. It was a good show with lots of singing and laughs for the kids. We were impressed by the quality of this small production. As fans of the X files in the past, Phil and I went to see Xfiles improv show that was performed by Dean Haglund. He was one of the Lone Gunmen group of computer nerds that Mulder consulted with from time to time. Dean was the one that looked like Garth from Wayne's World. This was a fun show as Dean had members of the audience participate with him in various improv games to create an episode of the Xfiles. The best show by far was the Tom Tom Club - a group that combines acrobatics, beatboxing, drumming and a DJ. It was a very energetic and fun performance. It was incredible the sounds the beatboxer could produce just with his voice. Harrison said he loved it. There are a few festivals still going on like the International Festival and the Edinburgh Mela - a cultural festival will take place on the weekend. We have tickets to the official event that closes all the festivals - the International Fireworks display that will be set off behind the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. We have tickets to get seating in Princes Street Gardens. We can't wait!
