"I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike, I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride it where I like!" ... Queen
This week we went out to buy bikes for myself, Phil and Harrison. We were quite concerned about the prices here of new bikes, but Phil did his homework (as usual) and found a company not too far away that repairs and resells old bikes that are donated to them for very low cost. It was great for 315 pounds we were able to buy three bikes and four helmets (one for Parker in his MEC baby trailer!). New bikes start around 300 pounds at regular bike shops. Needless to say we were very happy with the deal. We were told by the owners that bike stealing is quite popular in Edinburgh so it's better to have bikes that don't attract the attention of would-be theives. If you visit Edinburgh and need some cheap transportation to explore the city - consider buying a bike from the bike station (there were some as low as 40 pounds) and save money on the taxis, rental cars and buses! They sell adult bikes once a week on Saturdays starting at 10:30 in the morning. Get there early as the bikes are snatched up quickly.
