Trying to blend in with the locals we bought season's tickets to a Scottish Premier League Football Team in Edinburgh - The Hibernians. As we soon found out- people take their football seriously around here. Needless to say our children have learned a few colourful local phrases! There were a few brave souls who came to support the visiting team - but there are strict rules about crowd segregation and they are only allowed in one section. To say these fans are passionate may be an understatement. Although fewer in number than at a Flames Hockey game or Stampeder's Football game. When the home team is losing there is a lot of criticism, yelling and swearing at the players. On the other hand, the roar of the crowd and goodwill when the home team scores is intense and unlike anything I've experienced. We suspect there's a lot of high stakes on these games with all the sanctioned betting establishments we've seen around here.
