On Friday afternoon, we took the boys on a train to go camping in Blair Atholl (that's pronounced Blair Ath-all, not Blair A-thall ... we keep mangling the names of places ... imagine how we said Buccleuch Place!). This is a very small and quite attractive village between Edinburgh and Inverness near Pitlochry and is considered to be the beginning of the Cairngorm Mountains and known for Blair Castle which interestingly is the home of the only private army in Europe (ok the only authorized private army anyways). During our trip the kids enjoyed the train, seeing ducks and Highland Cattle. We tented for one night and then caught the train back to Edinburgh just in time to go to the Hibernian football match.
