Edinburgh International Festival Fireworks

The Edinburgh International Festival closed with an awesome display of fireworks on Sunday evening (Sep 2nd). We had really enjoyed ourselves earlier in the afternoon having been invited to a neighbour's house for a barbecue lunch ... about 8 couples turned up and most of them had kids too so it was quite a lively party! After an afternoon of eating and drinking we headed off to Princes Street Gardens with warm blankets to join thousands of other people who came out to watch the event. We weren't disappointed as it is Europe's largest annual pyro-concert and this year the light show was coordianted to the music of a live philharmonic orchestra playing various American classics by George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein ... all with the spectacular backdrop of the Edinburgh Castle high atop the cliff wall at one end of High Street.
