Harrison joined his scout troup on Sunday November 11th at a local Church of Scotland service for Remembrance Day or as it is called here an Armistice Ceremony. The impression we receive is that there is much more emotion associated with this day than we have experienced in North America. For starters about 80% of people wear poppies (even the young people in their teens and twenties that I wouldn't expect to). The war years appear to draw stronger memories here I suspect as it was geographically closer and a more immediate threat. It was a very nice service remembering the sacrifices made and our responsibility to honour those people through living a peaceful and loving life.
In terms of religion here, there are different names for faiths than one might be familiar with in Canada. Speaking with another Canadian who has lived here some years and whose son also goes to school and Beavers with Harrison, he explained the Church of Scotland is probably most similar to the United Church of Canada. He also said that Episcopalian is closest to Anglican faith.
