Valentine's Day in Scotland

Since this might be our only Valentine's Day while living in Scotland, I thought it would be romantic to meet Harriet, walk up the Scot monument together and look out over the city with a glass of wine and packed lunch. The top platform (after nearly 300 stairs) is only large enough for 8 people but luckily we were among the few people at the monument that day and had it practically to ourselves. We had been to the monument together more than 13 years earlier when vacationing here and in the autumn I had climbed it with Harrison and Parker. Later on Valentine's Day after Harriet's school and my continuing education course on Ancient Egypt we had a babysitter watch the boys and we had a delicious supper together at a restaurant not far from our flat.
