Meditation and Hill Walking

Harriet & I had planned that once she finished and submitted her final essay, I would take off for a week giving me some time for adventure and her some more time to spend with the kids since she had been so wrapped up in university lately. I booked myself into a 7-day retreat for introduction to meditation and hill walking in the Scottish mountains. The retreat was held at Dhanakosa centre which is a Buddhist centre in Scotland's Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park (see side for a link to it) right on the edge of Loch Voil. The hill walking was awesome and I joined several guided hikes including one to the top of a munro (a peak above 3000 ft) called Stob Binnein. Being very close to Balquhidder, I walked into town and saw Rob Roy's (Robert McGregor) grave at the church yard there. I also enjoyed the daily meditation sessions (3 a day each about 30 - 45 minutes in length) which are a nice complement to the style of yoga that I teach. The food was also a highlight (all vegetarian) as was the company of others on the retreat ... about 20 people in total.
