St. Andrews Bound

A few months ago I found out that I had been offered a 3 year studentship (a scholarship that covers tuition and a stipend) to pursue a PhD in psychology at the University of St. Andrews. This is a SINAPSE (Scottish Imaging Network: A Platform for Scientific Excellence) studentship. As such my project, which will investigate cognitive functioning of newly diagnosed patients with Type II Diabetes, will involve the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). This is quite a prestigious post as St. Andrews is one of the top rated schools in the United Kingdom, with the psychology department receiving top ratings for research. Since half my time will be at the University in St. Andrews and half my time will be spent at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, (an hour north by train from Edinburgh) we will need to move to Fife or Tayside area at the end of the summer. As you can imagine, there will be a lot to organize in the next few months for our extended 3 year stay.
