While we were there we planned a trip to Manchester (since we were relatively close) to see the "Body Worlds 4" exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. Body Worlds is an amazing exhibit of human anatomy through a process of plasticizing actual human tissue / corpses and then displaying them in ways (some quite controversial) that highlight the skeletal, muscular, circulatory, and digestive systems, etc .... Since we weren't allowed to take any pictures in the museum, I have included one from the internet and a link at the side if you want to check out more about it.
Harriet and I had initially planned a trip there just for the two of us but with a change of plans required, we ended up taking Harrison and Parker too. I was quite glad that Harrison went as the trip was really educational and illustrated the wonders of the human body and the importance of taking care of it through exercise and healthy eating. They also showed examples of healthy lungs and then those diseased through smoking ... I was particularly glad that Harrison could get that visual message loud and clear (especially in light of the culture of smoking being much more common in Scotland and starting at younger ages). Returning to Edinburgh to gyms and studios to teach yoga, it is really cool seeing so many people interested in taking care of their bodies ... and on a personal note it is quite satisfying having a small part to play in people's health and promoting wellness (physical and mental) through teaching yoga.
