New Lanark and Robert Owen Ahead of Their Time

On the weekend we visited a historic milling town - New Lanark. We didn't know anything about the town before we came - except that it was nearby a large waterfall - Corra Linn falls - boasting the largest volume of water in the UK. We soon found out that Robert Owen - well known in fields of sociology - designed this community on principles of social justice, ensuring the citizens had good working conditions, fair wages, fair treatment and good education. In fact - New Lanark was the site of the first nursery school in the world - a fact we thought would be of interest to our many family and friends who have devoted their lives to the education of children. All around this world heritage site there were reminders of Robert Owen's wisdom with inspiring quotes reminding of the importance of education, equality and community.
