Egyptology and the Louvre of Glasgow

As you probably know by now, Harrison is fascinated with ancient Egypt (one which as his father I share and am happy to support). We have been to a couple of lectures organized by the Egyptology Scotland society of which we are members. One of them took place in Glasgow at the Burrell Collection / Museum in Pollok Country Park ... I had never heard of this before but I was amazed at the extent and quality of this collection. It obviously would be an overstatement to say that it rivals the Louvre but it certainly commands respect in its own right and is an impressive collection ... a less well known attraction than the popular tourist destinations but one which I would strongly encourage people to see if they are drawn towards enjoying museums.
