The Birks of Aberfeldy

So last blog posting we wrote about being inspired by Shakespeare's MacBeth to hike Dunsinane Hill. This time we were inspired by Rabbie Burns to hike The Birks of Aberfeldy which he wrote a well-known poem about. Aberfeldy is in the lower highlands near Pitlochry (about 45 minutes north of Perth). Birks refers to a series of waterfalls that cascade over the course of a mile or so. Later October is known to be a particularly scenic time to do this hike what with the changing colour of leaves. In addition to being beautiful, this was really Parker's first decent size hike that he did all by himself ... the total trip was about 4 kms and with a bit of elevation. Then afterwards we had supper in Pitlochry and an evening walk through local woods / local park that held and light and sound show for Halloween. A fun way to spend a day and we got some great photos.
