Down south ... history and archaeology

For the Easter Weekend, our whole family decided to take a trip down to England. We took a night train to London, and went to the British Museum on Good Friday. We saw numerous famous pieces and amazing history of civilisations. We then travelled to Salisbury and returned to Stonehenge Saturday morning. The boys and I were there two and a half years ago but this time Harriet joined us. Like last time, we arranged for inner circle access and got to wander amongst the stones. Sunday morning we went to Highclere Castle in Newbury which is the estate of the current Lord and Lady Carnarvon (same family who funded Howard Carter to find the tomb of Tutankhamun). There we toured their castle, visited their Egyptian collection, and participated in an Easter scavenger hunt (part of an annual charity event to raise money for Children's Hospitals and care). Monday we travelled by train back to Dundee and Broughty Ferry ... but that wasn't the end of adventures and archaeology. Keep reading for more adventures!
